The 2023 Mel Nading Award for Exemplary Search and Rescue Practice was awarded to two teams; Wilderness Search and Rescue for their exemplary performance in leadership and fieldwork during a complex search near Chena Hot Springs August 13th through August 17th and Wrangell Search and Rescue for exemplary performance responding to the massive landslide on Zimovia Highway on November 20th and subsequent days of continued search and support of community members cut off from town resources.
