Kodiak Island Search and Rescue (KISAR) is a non-profit organization of volunteers whose objectives are exclusively charitable, scientific or educational. Our purposes are:

1) To furnish highly trained volunteers and dog teams for search and rescue for the benefit and welfare of the community.

2) To organize and support the continuing education and training of volunteers, dog teams and support personnel in accepted search and rescue methods.

3)To increase public awareness of search and rescue trained volunteers and dog teams and provide informational and educational programs and demonstrations to institutions, agencies and community organizations.

Pre-Requisites - (1) intermediate backcountry travel skills, (2) participation in a prior 3 day AAS Level 1 Course or equivalent and (3) at least a year of experience since your Level 1 Course. Juneau Mountain Rescue / Juneau Ski Patrol
National Ski Patrol Mountain Travel Course I

Attendees taking Mountain Travel and Rescue (MTR) courses will learn a variety of skills, including nutrition and how the body performs in a wilderness environment, weather patterns, survival skills, working with group dynamics, an introduction to search and rescue, rope rescue skills, improvised toboggan construction, and land navigation with map, compass, and GPS. Anchorage Nordic Ski Patrol
National Ski Patrol Mountain Travel Course

This course provides students with basic knowledge and skills to travel and work in reasonable comfort and safety in an outdoor environment. Field practice includes basic navigation, travel, and survival, and an introduction to search and rescue. This course does not include an overnight campout. Mar 26-29; Overnight between Mar 30-Apr 2.
